These fine looking longhorns were outside of Austin, TX. while my husband and I was on a trip in that area. I wanted to paint a western scene with these longhorns in it. I decided to put the longhorns on a slight hill to give them a more impressive look and feel. It was a bright sunny day and I hope I captured that too.

Summer - Longhorn
Cattle and oil tanks
and pumps are a somewhat common sight in parts of Texas . We sort of forget that it has been
that way for quite some time. This
painting is a reflection of that aspect of life.

Simple Beauty
This a horse painting I created from photos and reference material taken while attending a horse show. This particular horse was performing in dressage competition. Both rider and horse look so eloquent in their performance. This horse begged to be painted and I think watercolor suited him very well. http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

WHAT ! - Titmouse
Here is another
wildlife painting. It is a Titmouse,
probably the same one I have painted before.
I snapped a picture of this little fella in a shrub nearby. The look on its face is what I tried to
capture, hence the title of the painting.

Titmouse
This little Titmouse
was in a shrub near my back porch. I like
wildlife subjects to paint and one of my favorites are small song birds. Where I live there is an abundance of
wildlife. Most of the time you just have
to be patient and them, the birds and other critters will appear. Observing them always benefits me in my artwork. http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

Three Goldfish
Here is another of
my wildlife paintings of goldfish in my series of them. An aquarium of fresh water or salt water fish
can have a mesmerizing or calming affect on a person. Enjoy my “wildlife” painting of some goldfish. http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

Goldfish
I guess you could
call fish wildlife. I haven’t ever heard
of anyone domesticating a fish. So,
wildlife it will be for me. Goldfish are
popular especially for young children.
To me they are pretty subjects to paint.
There are so many kinds to paint; it takes time to choose which
one. This “wildlife” goldfish is one of
a series of fish I am painting.

Bluebird-mini watercolor
I have been painting miniature works for the last several days. I chose to do a series of the song birds around my home. This stiff lookin' little bird is an Eastern Bluebird. Maybe he sees a cat nearby and he is on alert. Whatever it is, he's ready...!

White Pelicans
I was in Rockport, TX. when I painted these large white Pelicans. It was a beautiful day when I saw them and their reflections caught my eye. The Gulf Coast is a haven for many species of birds. A great place to paint too. http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

Blue Skies
This old barn has been painted by me several times. It is about a 20 minute drive from my home. An older, really slim cowboy owns the place. He owns quite a few cattle and I have had the privilege to to paint them. Only they must have been in the barn, cause I didn't see'em that day. The day was beautiful and bright, great for a western painting.

Sunflower Charm
Sunflowers, third time is a charm. Third day of the demonstration for the watercolor class. Everyone in the class so enjoyed painting the sunflowers. The use of the gauze and other materials some used for theirs made for some happy results. Like I said before, sunflowers can make you happy.

Sunflower Burst
Another sunflower demonstration for the class the next day. I used the medical gauze again in this watercolor for the center of the flower. I am really starting to like that stuff. Sunflowers are wonderful subjects for keeping me in a looser style.

Sunflower Splash
I painted these sunflowers as a class demonstration using medical gauze to create a textured imprint for the centers in this watercolor. Sunflowers are a wonderful sunny flower to use in paintings. I don't know about you, but they can brighten my day. My style is much looser in this painting which I really enjoyed.

Blue Crab
Blue Crabs are common in the Gulf Coast. My family and I went crabbing a lot when I was younger. We had a good time trying to see which one of us could catch the most. Now I take pictures of someone's else that has caught'em, less likely to get pinched too...!

September's Song
September’s Song
A trip to Colorado resulted in
this landscape oil painting. Every turn driving
in the mountains is a different view.
All the views are breath taking in the vast landscape. This is the western landscape at it's finest. We didn’t see any wildlife except for a
chipmunk or two. I was hoping see an elk
or moose or some other large wildlife in the Colorado Rockies. I could have painted one in this painting
but, I will paint another landscape later and put wildlife in it.

Bird Bath-Carolina Wren
This little fella, a Carolina
Wren, had just finished taking a bath.
He flew into a shrub close by and I was able to observe him. His feathers were all askew making him look
scruffy. I placed him into the landscape
with just a twig he is resting on, to not take away from his bath pose. This painting is a miniature watercolor, 5x5.

Eastern Bluebird - Female
A little female Eastern bluebird that lives in one of several bluebird houses on our property. I call them their little condos. I also painted the "condos" the primary colors red, yellow and blue. The bluebirds seem to like the red and yellow one's the most. Actually it takes the female bluebird a few days to make up her mind which one she likes the most. I know, typical female even in the bird world. This is the fourth in my series of painting song birds. This painting also went to the Texas Bluebird Society auction. For more of my bird and wildlife paintings check out my website at http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

Orange Angel Fish
An Orange Angel Fish is the third in a series of paintings of salt water fish. These paintings are very exciting to paint because of letting the paint follow the wet misted paper. I used negative painting in the coral again as in the last two Angel fish. Enjoy. Visit me at http://WWW.ArtworkbyAnn.com

Yellow Angel Fish
Another Angel fish. I may do a series of these type fish. Salt water fish are very beautiful to paint especially in watercolor. The colors seem to mix themselves on the misted paper. I used a lot of negative shapes to create the coral in this painting as I did in a previous Angel fish painting.

Blue Angel Fish
This Blue Angel Fish was painted for a friend that wanted something that would fit in her beach house. Salt water fish would fit that description. Angel Fish are very pretty and colorful. This painting is done in watercolor with a lot of negative painting to create the coral. I will be posting more soon. Visit my website at http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

Anticipation-Great Egret
I think this is such a stately looking bird, the great egret. They always look so pristine, must be from all that preening. The male and female each take care of the nest and when the eggs hatch, they both that care of the food too. The egret and the cypress tree is taken from a photo I took in a nature garden here in south Texas. The gardens are named Shangri La. It is well known so, if you get a chance to visit there and want to take photos of Egrets, Ibis, Great blue Heron, Cormorants, Swallow tailed Kites and several other species of birds, check out their website. This painting is a watercolor done on 3oo# paper. Please take a look at my website for more wildlife paintings http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

Eastern Bluebird-Male
The Eastern Bluebird is one of the sweetest little birds that are around my home. The male bluebird is very caring to the female bluebird and later to their baby chicks. They often have two broods in one season. It is interesting to watch how the bluebird pair interact with each other and their babies. This particular painting is going to the Texas Bluebird Society for their auction. This painting of a songbird is one of a series I am planning on creating. American Goldfinch
The American Goldfinch is one of many song birds or yard birds, that travel through our property every spring and fall. I didn't realize how many different species of birds came our way until I took the time to really look. We have this one, the Goldfinch, Warblers, Eastern Bluebirds and Cardinals just to name a few. I am planning to paint a series of birds, songs birds first. Later, birds of prey and more water birds. If you especially like a particular bird leave me a note and I will paint it and post it. Lazy Afternoon-Longhorns
These three longhorns were in a pasture just taking in the warm sunshine on a early fall day outside of Austin, Texas. It was a lazy afternoon that day. These majestic animals always fit the western landscape so very well. Cattle, cowboys and horses
are the main thing I think of about Texas. This oil painting is size 14x18. For more of my western art visit my website http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com
