WHAT ! - Titmouse

© Ann Hoffpauir

Here is another wildlife painting.  It is a Titmouse, probably the same one I have painted before.  I snapped a picture of this little fella in a shrub nearby.  The look on its face is what I tried to capture, hence the title of the painting.  http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

Titmouse

© Ann Hoffpauir
This little Titmouse was in a shrub near my back porch.  I like wildlife subjects to paint and one of my favorites are small song birds.  Where I live there is an abundance of wildlife.  Most of the time you just have to be patient and them, the birds and other critters will appear.  Observing them always benefits me in my artwork.   http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

Three Goldfish

                                                        Three Goldfish

Here is another of my wildlife paintings of goldfish in my series of them.  An aquarium of fresh water or salt water fish can have a mesmerizing or calming affect on a person.  Enjoy my “wildlife” painting of some goldfish.   http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

Goldfish

I guess you could call fish wildlife.  I haven’t ever heard of anyone domesticating a fish.  So, wildlife it will be for me.  Goldfish are popular especially for young children.  To me they are pretty subjects to paint.  There are so many kinds to paint; it takes time to choose which one.  This “wildlife” goldfish is one of a series of fish I am painting.

White Pelicans

© AnnHoffpauir

I was in Rockport, TX. when I painted these large white Pelicans.  It was a beautiful day when I saw them and their reflections caught my eye.  The Gulf Coast is a haven for many species of birds.  A great place to paint too.  http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

Blue Crab

© AnnHoffpauir

Blue Crabs are common in the Gulf Coast.  My family and I went crabbing a lot when I was younger.  We had a good time trying to see which one of us could catch the most.  Now I take pictures of someone's else that has caught'em, less likely to get pinched too...!

Bird Bath-Carolina Wren

© AnnHoffpauir

This little fella, a Carolina Wren, had just finished taking a bath.  He flew into a shrub close by and I was able to observe him.  His feathers were all askew making him look scruffy.  I placed him into the landscape with just a twig he is resting on, to not take away from his bath pose.  This painting is a miniature watercolor, 5x5.

Eastern Bluebird - Female

© AnnHoffpauir
A little female Eastern bluebird that lives in one of several bluebird houses on our property. I call them their little condos. I also painted the "condos" the primary colors red, yellow and blue. The bluebirds seem to like the red and yellow one's the most. Actually it takes the female bluebird a few days to make up her mind which one she likes the most. I know, typical female even in the bird world. This is the fourth in my series of painting song birds. This painting also went to the Texas Bluebird Society auction. Orange Angel Fish

© AnnHoffpauir
An Orange Angel Fish is the third in a series of paintings of salt water fish.  These paintings are very exciting to paint because of letting the paint follow the wet misted paper.  I used negative painting in the coral again as in the last two Angel fish.  Enjoy.  Visit me at http://WWW.ArtworkbyAnn.com

Blue Angel Fish

© AnnHoffpauir
This Blue Angel Fish was painted for a friend that wanted something that would fit in her beach house.  Salt water fish would fit that description.  Angel Fish are very pretty and colorful.  This painting is done in watercolor with a lot of negative painting to create the coral.  I will be posting more soon.  Visit my website at http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

Anticipation-Great Egret

© AnnHoffpauir
I think this is such a stately looking bird, the great egret.  They always look so pristine, must be from all that preening.  The male and female each take care of the nest and when the eggs hatch, they both that care of the food too.  The egret and the cypress tree is taken from a photo I took in a nature garden here in south Texas.  The gardens are named Shangri La.  It is well known so, if you get a chance to visit there and want to take photos of Egrets, Ibis, Great blue Heron, Cormorants, Swallow tailed Kites and several other species of birds, check out their website.  This painting is a watercolor done on 3oo# paper.  Please take a look at my website for more wildlife paintings http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

Eastern Bluebird-Male

© AnnHoffpauir
The Eastern Bluebird is one of the sweetest little birds that are around my home.  The male bluebird is very caring to the female bluebird and later to their baby chicks.  They often have two broods in one season.  It is interesting to watch how the bluebird pair interact with each other and their babies.  This particular painting is going to the Texas Bluebird Society for their auction.  This painting of a songbird is one of a series I am planning on creating.  For more bird paintings and wildlife paintings please visit my website at http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

Flamingos

The zoo is a wonderful place to get reference material for wildlife of all kinds.  These flamingos are at the Houston Zoo.  I like to go there at different times of the year.  The habitat changes and so do the animals for the coming seasons.  I really liked these flamingos with their contrasting colors of the background and reflecting light from the water.  For more of my wildlife paintings of song birds or waterbirds please visit my website
