Majestic Longhorns

These fine looking longhorns were outside of Austin, TX. while my husband and I was on a trip in that area.  I wanted to paint a western scene with these longhorns in it.  I decided to put the longhorns on a slight hill to give them a more impressive look and feel.  It was a bright sunny day and I hope I captured that too.

Cattle and oil tanks and pumps are a somewhat common sight in parts of Texas. We sort of forget that it has been that way for quite some time.  This painting is a reflection of that aspect of life.

Simple Beauty

This a horse painting I created from photos and reference material taken while attending a horse show.  This particular horse was performing in dressage competition.  Both rider and horse look so eloquent in their performance.  This horse begged to be painted and I think watercolor suited him very well.  http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

Baby Girl and Player-Longhorns

This painting is a continuation of the previous painting, They Call Me Coach.  The couple that owns the Longhorn cattle, he being a football coach,  have named some of the calves after the sport of football.  I think that is cool, two fine activities that in a way compliment each other.  Bulls, bullheaded, strength, ornery, ah just to name a few.  This painting is a 6x8 oil and is sold.  For more of my western and equine art visit my website http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com

 

They Call Me Coach

The title of this painting may sound a little strange.  Usually there is a reason for such things.  So, here is the story about the title of this painting.  The wife of the couple that owns this bull bought it as a surprise for him.  He always said how much he liked Longhorn cattle.  Wished he had some Longhorns of his own someday.  Well, she surprised him alright, on his birthday one year.  And you ask, "where did the name come from"?  Her husband happens to be the headcoach of the football team at their high school.  Since then they have raised several Longhorns and many of them were given names relating to the sport of football.  Check out my website for more western, equine and Longhorn paintings.  Visit my website, http://www.ArtworkbyAnn.com
